World Renown Pianist Lang Lang To Perform With Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, 3/5
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra welcomes acclaimed pianist Lang Lang for a Gala performance and celebration on Sunday, March 5 at 5pm with Music Director Larry Rachleff conducting. The concert features the Orchestra performing Beethoven's 5th Symphony, and Lang Lang's captivating interpretation of Bartok's 2nd Piano Concerto.
"Lang Lang is an inspiring artist who both elevates and transcends classical music," remarks Philharmonic Executive Director David Beauchesne. "He performs with the world's greatest orchestras and has opened the Olympic games and World Cup for literally billions of viewers. Among his many collaborations, Lang Lang has worked with artists ranging from Placido Domingo to Metallica, Herbie Hancock and Jay Z. We are truly thrilled to have him join us for his Rhode Island premiere. This event, Larry Rachleff's final gala as Music Director, promises to be a truly remarkable evening."
Lang Lang recently released a recording of the Bartok Concerto with Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic, and he can be seen on RI PBS in the coming weeks performing his latest recording, "New York Rhapsody."
