With the Egyptian revolution at the forefront of our minds--as well as the story of the statue of Pharaoh Akhenaten, stolen from the Cairo Museum during the protests and miraculously recovered--it is uncanny that there is currently a play running off-off Broadway about the life of Pharaoh Akhenaten, which mirrors current events in Egypt.

Civic Theatre of Allentown will present a free reading of Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning play, TALLEY'S FOLLY, Saturday, February 26 at 2 pm on the stage at Civic's 19th Street Theatre, 527 N. 19th Street in Allentown. TALLEY'S FOLLY is the second in Lanford Wilson's acclaimed trilogy that includes FIFTH OF JULY. FIFTH is currently enjoying a full production at Civic Theatre. The production of FIFTH opens on Thursday, February 24 and runs through March 5.

Due to the recent blast of snowy and icy weather, Civic Theatre of Allentown will delay performances of Lanford Wilson's Tony-nominated play, "Fifth of July," by one week. The show, which was previously scheduled to open on February 18, will now begin performances on Thursday, February 24 and will run through Saturday, March 5. Patrons holding tickets for cancelled performances are asked to contact the Civic Theatre Box Office at 610-432-8943 to receive tickets for a new date.

The Alliance Theatre Lab was founded by Adalberto Acevedo in 2001 as The Modern Stage. Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced that DAVID GARRISON will complete the cast of Lynn Nottage's new play, BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK. This world premiere comedy will also feature the previously announced STEPHANIE J. BLOCK, DANIEL BREAKER, KIMBERLY HÉBERT GREGORY, KEVIN ISOLA, SANAA LATHAN, and KAREN OLIVO. Directed by Jo Bonney, BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK is Ms. Nottage's first play to be produced in New York since she won the Pulitzer Prize for Ruined in 2009.

The works of Jane Austen have been read and adapted for almost two hundred years, but no adaptation has been more popular or illuminating than the recent translation to the stage of Pride and Prejudice by Joseph Hanreddy and J.R. Sullivan. This version captures Austen's cleverness and fervor in the telling of this witty, elegant, sharply observed and richly rendered love story. Even the most cynical among us have trouble resisting this story's most satisfying resolution.

The passionate modern classic, 'Burn This' by Pulitzer Prize-winner Lanford Wilson, has now begun rehearsals under the direction of Nicholas Martin. Previews for 'Burn This' at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum are March 23 - May 1, 2011, with opening set for April 3. The cast includes, in alphabetical order, Brooks Ashmanskas, Ken Barnett, Zabryna Guevara and Adam Rothenberg.
