LA MaMa presents COFFEEHOUSE CHRONICLES #132 'TALKING BAND' -- Saturday March 12, 2016 at 3 to 5 p.m. -- Located at, La MaMa, Downstairs (66 East 4th Street, NYC).

La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club will present the World Premiere of Heather Litteer's solo show LEMONADE, directed by Elena Heyman (Erin Markey's Deleted Scenes From Fun Home; Becca Blackwell's They, Themselves and Schmerm) for a limited engagement April 15-24, 2016 at The Club at La MaMa (74A East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm. La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club will present the World Premiere of Romana Soutus' solo show HYENA, directed by Rachel Levens for a limited engagementMarch 18-27 at The Club at La MaMa (74A East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) with performances on Friday and Saturday at 10pm and Sunday at 6pm.

'Nightcap Riot: Mombucha' encompasses a concert, beverage tasting/'brewtorial,' and full theatrical production of the JIm Knable's world-premiere adapatation of George Bernard Shaw's 'The Man of Destiny' titled 'Destiny and the Little Man,' directed by Bruce Levitt. Only 50 people per night are allowed admission to this experience, which runs from January 15th - February 14th, 2016 over 16 performances. 15 different bands, 5 comedians, magicians, a mixologist from Union Square Hospitality and a kombucha brewer make up the balance of the greater Nightcap Riot: Mombucha cast. 

Back by popular demand: David Sedaris' perfect antidote to holiday madness. For those who like a little jeer with their Christmas cheer, The Santaland Diaries offers Crumpet, a 33-year-old starving artist turned Macy's elf. It's the most wonderful time of the year, but who would know it from the bad Santas, naughty elves, cranky kids, and pushy parents who test Crumpet's last elfin nerve. With sardonic wit, Sedaris takes us all playfully to task for plunging into the Christmas spirit while missing the point. This is for mature elves only.

SOUND OF REDEMPTION: THE FRANK MORGAN STORY, a film by N.C. Heikin, will open in New York at The IFC Center today, December 2nd, and in LA at Laemmle on December 18th.

La MaMa will honor film producer Joy Tomchin for her activism on behalf of the LGBTQ communities; Donn Russell for his commitment to and support of nontraditional theatre; and Roberta Uno for her leadership in philanthropy and cultural diversity at the annual La MaMa Gala tonight, November 2nd at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.), it has been announced by Mia Yoo, the theater company's Artistic Director.

Actor Gardiner Comfort's solo play about working as an actor with Tourette's Syndrome opens at La Mama October 15th.

The 9th Annual Welcome to Boog City Festival -- 5 Days of Poetry, Music, and Theater -- is headed to New York City!

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced today that Greg Reiner will join the NEA as the director of theater and musical theater starting on September 8, 2015. Reiner will manage NEA grantmaking in theater and musical theater and represent the agency to the field. 

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation announced today that 41 organizations in its New York Theater Program will receive grants totaling $4.1 million. Ranging from $10,000 to $160,000, the grants will be used toward operating support over the next two years.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre has announced that award-winning British actress Samantha Barks will star in the world premiere of AMELIE, A NEW MUSICAL directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?).

Lanford Wilson's 'Talley Trilogy' continues on the Aurora Theatre Company main stage with FIFTH OF JULY. Aurora Artistic Director Tom Ross (A Bright New Boise, This Is How It Goes, Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance, The Shape of Things) helms FIFTH OF JULY, featuring Craig Marker (The Shape of Things, The Persians), Elizabeth Benedict, John Girot, Jennifer Le Blanc, Oceana Ortiz, Harold Pierce, Josh Schell, and Nanci Zoppi. FIFTH OF JULY plays tonight, April 17 through May 17 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.

Godspell features the talents of Wesley King as Jesus, Elliott Robinson in the dual role of John-Judas. Playing themselves as "disciples" are Keeton Theatre regulars Tonya Pewitt, Stella London, Christina Redden, Santyana Harris, plus two newcomers to the Keeton Theatre family: Lisa Graham and Rachel Wilson.

Aurora Theatre Company continues its 23rd season with TALLEY'S FOLLY. In a season dedicated to his memory, the company pays homage to one of the most prolific and revered American playwrights of the 20th century, Lanford Wilson, with 'The Talley Trilogy,' of which TALLEY'S FOLLEY is the first entry in the series of three interrelated plays.
