Ensemble for the Romantic Century has announced that joining Tony nominee Robert Fairchild in the Off-Broadway premiere of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein will be Avey Noble (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), Krysty Swann (Mozart's Requiem at Carnegie Hall; Verdi'sRequiem at Lincoln Center), Mia Vallet (Lucy Thurber's Asheville at Rattlestick), Peyton Lusk (Falsettos on Broadway), Rocco Sisto (OBIE Award for sustained excellence), Shiv Ajay Pancholi-Parekh, and Paul Wesley ('The Vampire Diaries,' Cal In Camo).

Performances of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein will begin Thursday December 21st at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenues). Opening Night is set for December 27th. This limited Off-Broadway engagement will run through January 7th only. Donald T. Sanders will direct.

The concert features many important debuts including the company premiere of La Navarraise and Cavalleria rusticana; Music Director Designate Alberto Veronesi's Carnegie Hall and company debuts; the company debuts of soloists Robert Alagna, El?na Garan?a, Maria Guleghina, and Mignon Dunn, who returns to the stage for the first time since performing in Elektra at the Metropolitan Opera in 1994; and the young artist debut of mezzo-soprano Krysty Swann, a former member of the Opera Orchestra's Young Artist Program.

The Opera Orchestra of New York and its founder and Music Director Eve Queler today announced the company's 40th anniversary season to open at Carnegie Hall on Monday, October 25, 2010.

The Opera Orchestra of New York will end its hiatus with two concert productions, The New York Times reports. For economic reasons, the company has not presented any operas since 2008, presenting recitals instead; however, the operas will return with Giacomo Meyerbeer's L'AFRICAINE and a double bill of Jules Massenet's LA NAVARRAISE and Pietro Mascagni's CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA.

On May 12 at 7 pm, at the Schomburg Center (515 Malcolm X Blvd, at 135th St.), New York City Opera will present an abridged concert version of X, THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MALCOLM X, an opera about the great civil rights leader that premiered at City Opera in 1986. Marking 45 years since the assassination of Malcolm X, Composer Anthony Davis, librettist Thulani Davis, and scenarist Christopher Davis will offer insights on their inspiration and creative process.
