The Opera Orchestra of New York will end its hiatus with two concert productions, The New York Times reports.  For economic reasons, the company has not presented any operas since 2008, presenting recitals instead; however, the operas will return in the 2010-2011 season with a double bill of Jules Massenet's LA NAVARRAISE and Pietro Mascagni's CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA (October 25, 2010) and Giacomo Meyerbeer's L'AFRICAINE on (March 2, 2011).  The Opera Orchestra will also present Meagan Miller at the Merkin Concert Hall on February 9, 2011.

L'AFRICAINE will be presented at Avery Fisher Hall and will be conducted by company founder Eve Queler.  It will star Marcello Giordani and Chiara Tagni in her United States debut.

LA NAVARRAISE and CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA will be presented at Carnegie Hall and will be conducted by new company music director Alberto Veronesi.  Roberto Alagna and Elina Garanca will star in LA NAVARRAISE, while CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA will star Alagna, Maria Guleghina, Krysty Swann and Mignon Dunn.
