HERE Arts Center Presents Jennifer Gibb's SOUNDING, 2/17-3/13

HERE Arts Center proudly brings to life SOUNDING, a new seven-character play driven by original text and lyrics, along with cinematic video and a unique soundscape influenced by the music of Patti Smith, Bartok and Portishead. Written by Jennifer Gibbs and directed by Kristin Marting, this production runs Wednesday, February 17- Saturday, March 13 at HERE Arts Center. Official Opening Night is set for Saturday, February 20 at 8:30 PM.

Public LAB Announces Complete Casting for NEIGHBORS, Tickets on Sale 1/20

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting for NEIGHBORS, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Niegel Smith, the second show of the 2009-2010 Public LAB season. NEIGHBORS begins performances on Tuesday, February 16 and runs through Sunday, March 7. Tickets go on-sale on Wednesday, January 20.

The OBIE-winning HERE Arts Center's annual CULTUREMART festival, set for January 11th through January 31st, 2010, will feature 12 works that blur the lines between dance, theatre, music, new media, puppetry and visual art. Reflecting a core philosophy that it is not possible for any one art form alone to convey the flood of images, data and sound bytes that inundate the senses in today's world of information and communication overload, CULTUREMART's cross-disciplinary presentations embrace and illuminate our modern experience by integrating many forms of media and content into exciting new works.

Lower Manhattan Arts Leaders Receive $100,000 American Express Grant

Lower Manhattan Arts Leaders, the recently formed consortium of 11 downtown arts organizations that baned together in an effort to sustain themselves in the harsh economic climate, is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from American Express in support of the group's Fall Downtown programming, according to a report in Variety.
