Playwrights Horizons has announced new details for its upcoming 2016/2017 Season.

The Huntington Theatre Company's annual Summer Workshop will start rehearsals on July 12 and conclude in public readings of three new plays on July 23 and 24, 2016. The workshop allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to focus on developing new plays. The workshop and public readings will take place in the South End at the Huntington's Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street, Boston.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of JUNK: The Golden Age of Debt, by Pulitzer Prize winner and Tony Award nominee Ayad Akhtar (Broadway's Disgraced; Playhouse's The Who & The What), directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Outside Mullingar, Doubt). The recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, JUNK: The Golden Age of Debt runs in the Mandell Weiss Theatre July 26 - August 21. MEN ON BOATS, the critically-acclaimed comedy which premiered at Clubbed Thumb's 2015 Summerworks Festival, announced today casting for its return this summer in a co-production by Clubbed Thumb and Playwrights Horizons.

Mosaic Theater Company of DC announces the lineup for its new ticketed workshop series as part of its 2016-17 season. ArtsWest Artistic Director Mathew Wright has announced his second season, running September 2016 through July 2017. Opening with acclaimed dramatist Terrence McNally's MOTHERS AND SONS, the six production season will include the magical story telling of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER based on the novel by Dave Barry & Ridley Pearson; an Olivier Award winning new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's GHOSTS; a piercing glimpse into the teen-age world in Kirsten Greenidge's MILK LIKE SUGAR; Byrony Lavery's unflinching drama FROZEN; and the Stephen Sondheim musical thriller SWEENEY TODD.

Strawdog Theatre Company and Artistic Director Hank Boland present the final main stage production in its 2015 - 2016 season and the final production to be produced at Strawdog's Broadway home for 26 years*, George S. Kauffman and Moss Hart's ONCE IN A LIFETIME. The production begins tonight, April 22, and continues through June 4, directed by Damon Kiely, at Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N. Broadway St.

Abrons Arts Center presents the New York City premieres of EMPATHY SCHOOL / LOVE STORY, a program of two monologues, with video and original music, written and directed by Aaron Landsman.

Among this year's nominees for Outstanding Musical Production by a Large Theater are WAITRESS and NATASHA, PIERRE, AND THE  GREAT COMET OF 1812, both at American Repertory Theatre. Tony winner Jessie Mueller and Denee Benton also each received nods for their respective performances. 

The Huntington Theatre Company's 2016 Breaking Ground festival of new plays will be held April 14 - 17 at the Huntington's home for new work, the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

As part of the kick-off event for the 2016 Kennedy Center (KC) American College Theater Festival, a special preview of the EVERY 28 HOURS PLAYS will be performed and livestreamed as part of KC's Millennium Stage Series. The preview consists of an excerpt of the collection with more than 30 one-minute plays inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, with participation by theater makers and institutions across the nation and showcases the creative outcome of a community outreach residency in Ferguson and St. Louis County, Missouri in the fall of 2015.
