ODC/Dance presents Summer Performance Series: SUMMER SAMPLER, 7/27-29

ODC/Dance, San Francisco's world class contemporary dance company, presents its annual summer event, Summer Sampler, July 27-29, 2017. The three-night series gives audiences a chance to experience the dynamic ODC dancers up close in the company's intimate Mission District theater on the ODC Campus.    

David Gordon's Live ARCHIVEOGRAPHY Premieres at ODC Theater

ODC Theater is proud to present David Gordon and Pick Up Performance Co(s) in the world premiere of LIVE ARCHIVEOGRAPHY, a retrospective tracing five decades of the legendary theater and dance artist's work. Live Archiveography runs April 20 -22, Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m.

ODC Theater Announces 2017 Season

ODC, the most active center for contemporary dance on the West Coast, has announced the program for its 2017 Theater Season. Highlights include world premieres by David Gordon, FACT/SF, Monique Jenkinson, tinypistol, Laura Elaine Ellis and Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts, and West Coast premieres by Kate Weare Company and The Foundry. Additional season highlights include remounts of seminal works by Joanna Haigood and RAWdance.

ODC Dance Announces 46th Season

ODC/Dance, San Francisco's internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company, announces programming for its 46th annual home season at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. This season includes one world premiere by Brenda Way, one world premiere by KT Nelson, the return of Kate Weare's critically acclaimed work, Giant, and Way's enthralling 2016 work, Walk Back the Cat.

Using spoken text from Faulkner's 1929 masterpiece, The Sound and the Fury, the company explores the technique of stream of consciousness as a source of inspiration. After last year's much-lauded season, ODC Theater's 2014 season offers a range of performances featuring established and emerging artists from around the country and as far away as Israel. Anchoring the season are two festivals: the return of the Walking Distance Dance Festival-SF in May, and spanning four weeks from July into August, the Music Moves Festival, a celebration of music and dance. In fact, the Theater's entire season is studded with concerts that feature dance and live music. The relationship between the two serves as a recurring theme for artists and audiences alike.

The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) joins forces with First Voice to present the World Premiere of MU, a magical fable created by National Endowment for the Arts Fellow playwright/artistic director Brenda Wong Aoki, Emmy-winning composer Mark Izu, and Tony-nominated choreographer Kimi Okada, and featuring fantasy costumes by Beaver Bauer. Based on a Japanese legend, MU is a beguiling tale both otherworldly and deeply personal. Three performances take place in Kanbar Hall tonight, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 at 8 pm, with a 2 pm matinee on Sunday, Sept. 29, to be followed by a national tour.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) opens its 2010-11 season with the return of two-time Tony Award winner and A.C.T. favorite Bill Irwin (Fool Moon at A.C.T., Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? on Broadway, and the award-winning film Rachel Getting Married) to the Bay Area in his hilarious reimagining of Molière's Scapin. In this lively baggy-pants comedy, the rascally title character balances his penchant for mayhem and mischief with a promise to help two pairs of wide-eyed lovers.
