Isle of Klezbos Release New Album with Special Concert at Joe's Pub, 4/6

ISLE of KLEZBOS, the soulful and swinging all-women's klezmer sextet, will release their second album with a special concert at JOE'S PUB at the Public on Sunday, April 6 at 7:30 PM. The new disc, Live from Brooklyn - recorded in concert last year at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, with the addition of two bonus studio numbers - will be available from Rhythm Media Records on Tuesday, April 8 as well as at the Joe's Pub performance. Formed in 1998, the group approaches their music with a canny mix of irreverence and respect. Live from Brooklyn features the group's signature diverse blend of rambunctious folk dances, exciting Yiddish swing, entrancing retro tango, klezmerengue, re-grooved standards, and genre-defying originals. The album will be availab le on iTunes, in stores and wherever music is sold.

Brian Dailey's JAKAI Illuminates Times Square, 2/1

The brilliant colors of artist Brian Dailey's Jikai will create an even more vibrant environment in Times Square as part of February's Midnight Moment. Dailey's work will premiere just before midnight on February 1st and play every night throughout February from 11:57 p.m. – midnight, welcoming a month of love and attraction in Times Square.

IMAGINARY PORTRAITS: PRINCE IGOR to Open at Gallery Met, 1/31; New Production of PRINCE IGOR Opera Set for 2/6

New works by more than 20 prominent artists will be featured in Imaginary Portraits: Prince Igor, a group show opening at the Arnold & Marie Schwartz Gallery Met on January 31. Each of the participating artists has created a portrait of the 12th-century Russian warlord Prince Igor, the subject of Borodin's opera of the same name, who made a significant impact on medieval Russian history but left behind no definitive visual record.

Galerie Lelong at Art Basel Miami Beach

Galerie Lelong New York and Paris will feature program highlights for Art Basel Miami Beach 2013 including work by new gallery artist Zilia Sánchez, a selection of pastels by Sean Scully in Art Kabinett, and a new outdoor sculpture by Ursula von Rydingsvard as part of Art Public. Having been one of the early supporters of Latin American art, Galerie Lelong will exhibit work of some of the region's most vital figures including Alfredo Jaar, Cildo Meireles, Ana Mendieta, and Hélio Oiticica. Also on view will be artists spanning generations and continents including Petah Coyne, Günther Förg, Lin Tianmiao, David Nash, Emilio Perez, Jaume Plensa, Kate Shepherd, and Kiki Smith.

Sackler Family Endowment Establishes Brooklyn Museum Curatorial Position

A significant endowment from members of the Sackler family has established the position of Sackler Family Curator for the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art of the Brooklyn Museum. The inaugural position will be held by Catherine J. Morris, who has been Curator of the Sackler Center since 2009.

Nora York's WATER WATER EVERYWHERE Set for Joe's Pub Tonight

Joe's Pub at The Public will welcome conceptual artist, musician and educator Nora York in Water Water Everywhere / Nay Any Drop To Drink, a new work presented by Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Ballroom Marfa and the Public Concern Foundation as part of the city-wideMarfa Dialogue NY symposium on climate change. This one-night-only performance takes place at Joe's Pub tonight, November 10 at 7:00 PM and is FREE and open to the public.

Fisher Landau Center for Art Presents LEGACY Exhibition thru March 31, 2014

Fisher Landau Center for Art has announced "LEGACY: Photographs from Emily Fisher Landau's Gift to the Whitney Museum of American Art", on view through March 31st, 2014. Occupying the 2nd & 3rd floor galleries of the Center, the exhibition highlights a photographic overview of the historic pledge of artwork by Mrs. Landau, consisting of 419 pieces by 86 artists who have shaped the course of American Art.

New York Live Arts Welcomes Molissa Fenley and Company, Now thru 10/5

New York Live Arts will present, as part of the Replay Series, works by Molissa Fenley spanning more than thirty years of her choreographic experiments in two varied programs tonight, October 2 - 5 at 7:30pm, with a lecture demonstration October 5 at 3:00pm. Fenley will present the world premiere of Found Object, the reconstructed solos The Floor Dances and Witches' Float, and the quartet Energizer, bridging her choreographic past with the present.

Lena Dunham & Laurie Simmons to be Honored at Brooklyn Museum Women in the Arts Fundraising Luncheon, 11/14

Award-winning photographer and conceptual artist Laurie Simmons and her daughter, Lena Dunham, best known for writing, directing, producing, and acting in the HBO program Girls, will be honored at the eleventh annual Women in the Arts luncheon on Thursday, November 14, 2013. This is the first time the benefit will jointly honor two recipients--a mother-daughter pair. Proceeds from the event will benefit the many educational and artistic programs offered by the Brooklyn Museum and its Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art.
