The music of composer Will Van Dyke -- currently serving as associate music director of KINKY BOOTS on Broadway -- will take center stage when Tony Award-winner Billy Porter and other Broadway stars perform the one-night-only concert Will Van Dyke AND FRIENDS tonight, Monday, October 14 at 9:30 p.m. at 54 Below (254 W. 54 St.) in Manhattan.

The concert, which will include a number of Broadway luminaries, is a celebration of his new album, 'Writing Kevin Taylor: 2013 Concept Recording.'

One of the world's most popular operas, La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, opens the new Opera in the Heights season. Fiery passion and poignant beauty dramatize the music created for this tale of ardent love and heartbreaking sacrifice. Last night, Houston's Opera in the Heights opened their production of Giuseppe Verdi's FALSTAFF. The mirthful and comedic opera is the last production of their 2012-2013 season, but the most exhilarating aspect of the production is seeing an opera performed so intimately. This was my first time to visit Lambert Hall, and I was simply blown away by how close to the action I was, even in the last row of the Orchestra level. Opera in the Heights provides a novel and intriguing way to experience opera that I, and I'm sure many others, are simply unaccustomed to.

Opera Colorado presents its second annual fall cabaret, Sideshow!, at the Studio Loft at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Performing Arts Complex (14th Street between Curtis and Champa Streets) on November 1, 2 and 3, 2012, as part of Denver Arts Week. The ridiculous love triangle of Doctor Gregg, Lola Markham, the anesthetist, and her fiance, Donald Hopewell, plays out in the stereotypical TV soap opera hospital setting in Douglas Moore's Gallantry. Experience this 1950's episode live, complete with commercial interruptions for Billy Boy Wax and Lochinvar Soap by the announcer. After intermission, the cast changes gears and presents two sets of timeless cabaret and jazz favorites from William Bolcom and Cole Porter, including "Over the Piano," "The Last Lousy Moments of Love," "Night and Day," "I Get a Kick Out of You," and more.
