Arizona Theatre Co Receives $50k Grant From National Endowment for the Arts

Thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Arizona Theatre Company has received a one-time grant of $50,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts. Arizona Theatre Company is one of four arts organizations in the state to have received a grant from the Recovery Act. This grant helps preserve key positions in our Education staff in Tucson and Phoenix, allowing the company to continue its education programs throughout the State of Arizona.

Managing Director Kevin Moore is proud to announce that The Cleveland Play House is a recipient of a $25,000 direct grant from National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) as part of the NEA?s share of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a federal economic stimulus recovery package. The Play House is one of 631 nonprofit arts organizations receiving grants to support the preservation of jobs that are threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.

Mommie Queerest is outrageous slapstick comedy

Uptown Players has revived this tradition of slapstick with its outrageous stage production Mommie Queerest, a parody of the 1970s book and hit film 'Mommie Dearest' based on the life of screen actress Joan Crawford, now running through Jul. 12 at the S4 Rose Room in the Oak Lawn area.
