Broadway’s indeed thankfully back, but amid rising Covid cases wreaking havoc on casts and keeping audiences away, the return has not been smooth. And now the theater industry has entered the cold winter months, traditionally tough times at the box office. So when the producers of MRS. DOUBTFIRE announced the show was taking a “hiatus” – as the press release read – from January 10 through March 14, theater insiders could understand why. But nothing is as simple as it seems. The decision shines a spotlight on the tense relationship between Broadway producers and Broadway’s 14 unions in these difficult times.
Mrs. Doubtfire, the new musical comedy with a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, directed by Jerry Zaks, is currently taking a hiatus on Broadway from January 10 to March 14, 2022 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St, NYC).
The producers of the international hit comedy THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG are pleased to announce the Chicago production, featuring a cast of local Chicago actors, will extend its limited engagement by nine weeks through April 3, 2022 at Broadway In Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut St.) to a total run of 16 weeks.

The much-loved stage adaptation of the timeless classic will embark on a brand-new UK tour for the festive season, opening on Tuesday 22 November 2022 at Nottingham Theatre Royal, before visiting the Sunderland Empire and Liverpool Empire.
