World premieres, new writers and ground-breaking adaptations have been announced for 2017 at the National Theatre.

New work by Inua Ellams, Ya?l Farber, DC Moore, Lindsey Ferrentino and Nina Raine is announced today by Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre. Four world premieres and two European premieres are further announced as forthcoming productions for the National Theatre in 2017.  

Beginning September 23, the Royal Shakespeare Company's acclaimed production of Shakespeare's Othello will play in select movie houses across North America. The production, which opened to rave reviews at the RSC's home in Stratford-upon-Avon, was filmed for 'Live from Stratford-upon-Avon,' the RSC program that screens the world's greatest classical theatre company from Shakespeare's home town around the world through a continued partnership with Picturehouse Entertainment. The Revenger's Tragedy opens tomorrow night, 3 August and is directed by the theatre's Artistic Directors Henry Filloux-Bennett and Nicholas Thompson respectively, with video design by Emil Charlaff, costumes by Mike Lees, lighting by Leo Steele, stage combat by Kev McCurdy and sound by Ella Wahlstrom. Joining Paul Bhattacharjee and Meera Syal as the sparring lovers Benedick and Beatrice is a stellar cast of British Asian actors including Amara Karan as the wronged young lover Hero, Kulvinder Ghir as Borachio and Madhav Sharma as Leonto.
