During the week of May 2, 2011, which included the first full week of the May sweep, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live turned in its 4th-most-watched week of the season. Building on the previous week by 4% in Total Viewers and by 4% in Adults 18-49, ABC's JKL drew its largest weekly audience in 5 weeks (since w/o 3/28/11).
Continuing to build its numbers during the week of May 2, 2011, ABC delivered a strong second-place finish in both Total Viewers (9.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.5/7). In fact ABC paced No. 2 to Fox in Adults 18-49 for the 4th consecutive week, beating CBS by 14% (2.2/6) and NBC by 25% (2.0/6).
As always with DANCING WITH THE STARS, no matter how great the dancers or the scores, someone must go home. Only six celebrities remain: Kirstie Alley, Kendra Wilkinson, Ralph Macchio, Hines Ward, Romeo, and Chelsea Kane. Tonight was a night of high scores and personal bests for the DANCING WITH THE STARS celebrities, and also marked a few milestones for the show itself: the halfway point for this season, and the show's 1000th competitive dance. With all that in mind, it's no wonder that the contestants brought their A-game, and for many, tonight was the highlight of their season thus far.
After a night of classical pieces on DANCING WITH THE STARS, the attention shifted - momentarily, at least - to the usual results show performances. This week featured Jennifer Hudson and violinist David Garrett (who also performed on last night's show).
This week's episode of DANCING WITH THE STARS promised to raise things up a notch with the world's fastest violinist, a full orchestra sound, and mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins providing vocals for the evening.
