AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN Scribe Responds to Negative Reviews

An Officer and a Gentleman, directed by Simon Philips and co-written by Douglas Day Stewart and composer and lyricist team Ken Hirsch and Robin Lerner, made its world premiere performance on May 18 at the Lyric Theater in Sydney, Australia. Despite the hype of the much anticipated musical, which is believed to have Broadway aspirations, the production was received with little enthusiasm by many critics (revisit the Review Roundup here). Now, the movie and show's scribe, Douglas Day Stewart, has taken to the media to defend the piece in an open letter in The Australian against their negative reaction.

Sydney Lyric's OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN Musical Begins Rehearsals

Producers John Frost and Sharleen Cooper Cohen, along with NSW Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Arts, George Souris, today welcomed the full cast and crew of the new musical An Officer and a Gentleman to their first day of rehearsals, ahead of the World Premiere on 18 May, 2012 at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, The Star.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Amazing Sex - A New Revue, written by Barry Harman and Keith Herrmann. The event starred Alison Fraser, Jason Graae and Caesar Samayoa. Amazing Sex is a tuneful, sophisticated look at adult intimacy written by the duo who created Romance/Romance. NATALIE TORO most recently received accolades for her portrayal of Madame Therese Defarge on Broadway in 'A TALE OF TWO CITIES' a role for which she won Sarasota Magazine's Best Supporting Actress Award when the show played its pre-Broadway run at the Asolo Repertory Theatre. BROADWAY: Les Mis?rables, A Christmas Carol. OFF-B'WAY: Zombie Prom. NATIONAL TOURS: Evita (Jeff Award nomination), Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar. REGIONAL: The Fix, Everything's Ducky, Francis of Guernica, Blood Brothers, Zorba. TELEVISION: 'Law & Order,' 'Law & Order: SVU,' 'Santa Baby.' FEATURED SOLOIST: Carnegie Hall, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Kentucky and Buffalo Symphonies. Natalie's new CD, entitled Natalie Toro, will be released nationally on Monday, November 24th. Linda Eder's Weekend in New England

Linda Eder will be appearing with Grammy Award-winning vocalist Steve Tyrell for two shows this weekend at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset and the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis. She will be performing standards, but her new CD 'The Other Side of Me' scheduled for release in September features songs with a pop, country feel.
