Brooklyn Tavern Theater, led by composer/lyricist/writer Dan Furman, is presenting 'Impossible but True,' a 'tavern musical' inspired by Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle story, through October 29 at Franklin 820 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and in Manhattan at Uncle Charlie's, 139 East 45th Street. This immersive musical aims to pioneer a new genre of no-frills productions in hospitable places that are underused for performances. Cailín Heffernan directs.

The wit of playwright Shirley Beth Newbery coupled with the steady hand of director Laurie Rae Waugh will make even the saddest occasion a joy in AFTER THE WAKE, running Wednesday - Sundays, August 7 - 18 at the Serene Sargent Theatre - part of the American Theatre of Actors complex of arthouses. Wednesday - Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and matinees on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

The new play features Mr. Coughlin with Norberto Cancel, Elena Crociani, Tom Kalnas, Daniel Mirra, Manny Rey, and Daddy Tom. Stage and film director, Laurie Rae Waugh returns to direct this piece after directing the original one-act.
