This year's Tony Awards nominations have just been announced by Jane Krakowski and Christopher Jackson and here they are, celebrating the best of the 2016-17 theatre season (and what a season it's been!) Earlier this morning, Laura Benanti (She Loves Me, Gypsy) and Javier Muñoz (Hamilton, In the Heights) announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards.

The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, will welcome Danny Burstein and Jane Krakowski to announce the nominees for the 2016-17 season on Tuesday, April 25th (11AM) in the Oak Room at New York's renowned Algonquin Hotel (59 West 44th Street). COME FROM AWAY is a story that touches on many lives, but a select few in particular. For the most part, the characters represent a collection of individuals, but one character in particular is based on a remarkable woman. Jenn Colella portrays Beverley Bass, a female pilot and an all-around pioneer.

As if... we can wait any longer! Amy Heckerling's jukebox musical adaptation of the hit '90s film CLUELESS is getting another developmental lab in New York City, according to an Actors' Equity casting notice. The workshop will run July 5 - July 27, 2017.

La Jolla Playhouse announced today the complete casting and public on-sale date for its world-premiere musical Escape to Margaritaville, featuring the songs of legendary singer-songwriter-author Jimmy Buffett.

Junkyard Dog Productions (Randy Adams, Marleen and Kenny Alhadeff and Sue Frost) announced that theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured the worldwide licensing rights to Irene Sankoff & David Hein's COME FROM AWAY.

Toronto Metro News is reporting that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will soon be on his way to Broadway to see one of theatre's newcomers COME FROM AWAY. Trudeau tweeted that he has tickets for himself and his wife on March 15 and he is looking forward 'to showing New Yorkers Canada at its best.'

On Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 7:30pm, Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents a discussion with Canadian writing duo Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Tony-nominated choreographer Kelly Devine, and Tony-nominated director Christopher Ashley on the creative process behind the new musical Come From Away, which will open on Broadway on March 12.
