Romy and Michele are bringing the '90s straight to the stage! As previously announced, the world premiere musical adaptation of the 1997 cult comedy film ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION has set a Summer 2017 debut at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. And now BroadwayWorld has gotten wind of the cast for a recent reading of the musical.

Romy and Michele are bringing the '90s straight to the stage! The world premiere musical adaptation of the 1997 cult comedy film ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION has set a Summer 2017 debut at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre.

With nearly 2000 subscribers in attendance, The 5th Avenue Theatre Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong revealed the season line-up for its 7-show 2016/17 season.

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced the Ford's Theatre 2016-2017 season will begin with the new musical Come From Away directed by Christopher Ashley. Productions include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? directed by Aaron Posner and featuring Holly Twyford as Martha; the musical Ragtime, directed by Peter Flynn and featuring an all-local cast including Kevin McAllister, Tracy Lynn Olivera and Nova Y. Payton; and the 35th-annual production of Washington's holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol. Political comedian Mark Russell will return for a one-night-only performance during the height of election season.

Junkyard Dog Productions announced today that the new musical Come From Away will premiere on Broadway in the spring of 2017 at a theatre to be announced following productions at Washington DC's Ford's Theatre as part of their 2016-2017 season from Friday, September 2 - Sunday, October 9, 2016, and in Toronto as part of the Mirvish Theatre's 2016-2017 Subscription Series from Tuesday, November 15, 2016 - Sunday, January 1, 2017, at a Mirvish Theatre to be announced.

Showmance Productions is proud to announce DON'T BREAK UP THE BAND: A ROCK OF AGES BROADWAY CAST REUNION CONCERT. Scheduled for January 25th, 2016 at Highline Ballroom in NYC, the evening will feature Rock of Ages Broadway cast members from opening night to closing night, as well as band members from the show's fictional rock band, Arsenal. World-premiere musical COME FROM AWAY comes to Seattle Rep now through December 13 in the Bagley Wright Theatre. A co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, COME FROM AWAY is the first musical to be on the main stage of the Rep in over 15 years. It opens tonight, November 18, 2015. Featuring book, music and lyrics by the Canadian husband-and-wife team of Irene Sankoff and David Hein (My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding), the production is directed by La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley.

The British Film Institute will re-release David Lean's epic romance “Doctor Zhivago,” starring  Omar Sharif and Julie Christie, in honor of the film's 50th anniversary.

 Jewish Plays Project (JPP), a development organization committed to putting bold, progressive Jewish conversations on world stages, continues its annual Open: Festival of play readings and workshops at the 14th Street Y including four new full-length plays and one new musical by Margot Connolly, Sarah Gancher, Gary Jaffe, David Hein & Irene Sankoff, and Sam Lahne.

The new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, recorded its cast album on Thursday, May 28th. Authors include composer Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyricists Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (the two multi-platinum Sunset Boulevard hits) and book writer Michael Weller (screenwriter for Hair and Ragtime). It was announced today that the new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, will record its cast album on Thursday, May 28th

Rock of Ages opened on Broadway in 2008 and closed last January after 2,328 regular performances and 22 previews. It is still running strong at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The music in the show is drawn from the glam metal and hair bands popular in the 1980s and it tends to be familiar to the audience who often sings along.
