Broadway Records hosts an album release event and CD signing with Broadway's DOCTOR ZHIVAGO cast and creatives, including live cast performances and a Q&A today, September 30th, from 6 to 7:30 PM at Sardi's.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Tony Award-winner Beth Leavel (THE DROWSY CHAPERONE) will star in the Muny's new cabaret, MUNY MAGIC, at Sheldon Concert Hall.

Broadway Records will be holding an album release event and CD signing with Broadway's DOCTOR ZHIVAGO cast and creatives! The event will include live cast performances and a Q and A.

Producers Michael Alden, George DeMarco, Frank Evans and Jack Lechner announced today that they will present a private reading of the new musical DATE OF A LIFETIME on Thursday, September 17th. Four time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (Guys and Dolls) serves as Creative Consultant. Date of a Lifetime features a book and lyrics by Carl Kissin and music by Rob Baumgartner, Jr.

It's that time of year, and I can't help but wonder if your CD collection and iPod are Tonys ready. It's just a handful of hours until the 69th annual Tony Awards, which will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 8/7c on CBS. This Broadway season has some exciting contenders in the musical categories, and to get you ready for the big night, I'm recapping the albums you should be listening to (or at least pre-ordering).

The new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, recorded its cast album on Thursday, May 28th. Authors include composer Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyricists Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (the two multi-platinum Sunset Boulevard hits) and book writer Michael Weller (screenwriter for Hair and Ragtime). New Dramatists, Tony Honor recipient and the nation's premier playwright development laboratory, just honored Tony Award winning actor and Chairman of the Board of The Actors Fund, Brian Stokes Mitchell with their 2015 Distinguished Achievement Award at its 66th Annual Spring Luncheon tribute. The event featured musical performances from some of Mitchell's most memorable shows by Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams (King Hedley II, Hallelujah Baby), Nicolette Robinson (Brooklynite, TV's 'The Affair,' 'Hart of Dixie') and Leslie Odom, Jr. (Hamilton, NBC's 'Smash'), and Tony nominated Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q, Carnival at City Center Encores!). The new musical DOCTOR ZHIVAGO will play its final performance at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway), Sunday May 10, 2015. DOCTOR ZHIVAGO will have played 26 preview and 23 regular performances.

The 2015 Tony Award Nominations were announced earlier today, and while a select, talented few will spend the day celebrating their achievements, there are many who fell just short of a nod.
