Articulate Theatre Company is proud to announce the playwrights chosen for their signature event, Articulating the Arts. Each AtA is themed around an artistic discipline, such as architecture, dance, painting, and for this event, folk music. Our playwrights use these other art forms as inspiration for new plays, resulting in an increased connection between theatre artists and artists of other disciplines. Subtitled 'Folk City Scenes' this Articulating the Arts will showcase plays inspired by folk songs such as City of New Orleans, Puff the Magic Dragon, and Turn! Turn! Turn! The full show listing is:

Rehearsals begin today for the new production of Crossing Jerusalem, written and directed by Julia Pascal, at Park Theatre (PARK90) from 4 - 29 August. The National Portrait Gallery has acquired an unpublished photograph of the British conductor Sir Simon Rattle. Rory Coonan took the portrait in 1982 on film, using a 150-year-old plate camera. The acquisition is announced to mark Sir Simon's 60th birthday, today, Monday 19 January 2015, and ahead of his concerts in London with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, of which Liverpool-born Rattle is Principal Conductor.
