Performances Announced For 2018 Bang on a Can Marathon, Featuring 10 Hours of Free Live Music

The Unique Panel Discussion will celebrate a new book by Ronald Rand, "CREATE! It would be nice to be able take in The Wooster Group's intriguing docu-theatre piece, THE TOWN HALL AFFAIR, as a look at the grotesquely blatant brand sexism of nearly 50 years ago that we have since outgrown. Sadly, this glimpse at a carnival-like event disguised as a serious debate on the subject of, as it was known at the time, women's lib, is likely to remind audience members of current headlines.

The Gish Prize Trust recently announced that Elizabeth LeCompte, founding member and director of the internationally acclaimed experimental theater company The Wooster Group, has been selected to receive the 23rd annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize.

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center presents its annual PRELUDE FESTIVAL on October 5, 6, and 7 at The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). The theme of this year's festival will be FAILURE.

Closing out Crowded Fire's 2016 season of new and contemporary plays is the Bay Area premiere of Young Jean Lee's THE SHIPMENT co-directed by Artistic Director Mina Morita and Resident Artist Lisa Marie Rollins. THE SHIPMENT, which took New York by storm in 2009 caused Time Out New York to call her 'one of the best experimental playwrights in America.' As characterized by The New Yorker, Young Jean Lee 'does whatever she can to get under our skin-with laughs and with raw, brutal talk that at times feels gratuitous, and is meant to.'
