Anika Noni Rose Set for LA Philharmonic's Tchaikovsky Concert, 3/10

Actress Anika Noni Rose has been confirmed to play the role of Juliet in the LA Phil all-Tchaikovsky program led by Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, Thursday and Friday, March 10 and 11, at 8 p.m., as well as Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13, at 2 p.m. The Sunday concert is the second LA Phil LIVE performance, and will be simulcast live in theaters across the country, at 2 p.m. Pacific/5 p.m. Eastern. The all-Tchaikovsky concert program features the composer's three Fantasy-Overtures inspired by Shakespeare plays - Hamlet, The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. Preceding each of these powerful symphonic poems are selections from the Bard's immortal works performed by the previously confirmed cast of actors - Orlando Bloom as Romeo, Malcolm McDowell as Prospero, and Matthew Rhys as Hamlet. Kate Burton, the prolific Tony-nominated stage and screen actress and daughter of the late Richard Burton, directs this all-star cast and also serves as host for the LA Phil LIVE broadcast.

Roundabout Theatre Company's (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) critically acclaimed Broadway production of Oscar Wilde's comedy The Importance of Being Earnest, directed by and starring Brian Bedford, will be filmed live with multiple high definition cameras during public performances on March 11 and 12, 2011 at the American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd St.).

Laura Benanti to Star in PLAYBOY Pilot for NBC

Deadline.com is reporting that 'Laura Benanti is set to star in NBC's drama pilot Playboy. The project, from 20th TV/Imagine TV, is set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963. Benanti will play Carol-Lynne, a 30-year-old bombshell and an established star at the Playboy Club who knows that her days as a Bunny are numbered.'

The New York Times is reporting that the revival of YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU will no longer open this fall as scheduled, nor will it play its planned pre-Broadway run at Huntington stage. Due to what lead producer Elizabeth McCann says was the busying schedule of director Anna D. Shapiro, and the passing of Martin Sheen on the lead role the production has now been delayed pending the finding of a star and theatre. No new dates have been announced.
