Kate Burton and Katie Lowes have been set to host the 2014 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 2, at the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse in San Gabriel, it was announced today. Red carpet arrivals begin at 5:30 and the ceremony starts at 7pm.

In 1953, the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas premiered his masterpiece, Under Milk Wood, in front of a live audience at New York's 92nd Street Y. In celebration of Thomas's centenary, this beloved 'play for voices' will come full circle this afternoon, October 26 - when actor Michael Sheen directs and stars in a live broadcast reading of Under Milk Wood at 92Y.

Based on last week's previews for tonight's episode, which included Meredith telling Derek to just go to DC already (marriage schmarriage), I was prepared to launch another “Meredith Grey is the Most Selfish Person in the World” tirade. However, the writers bested me with a well-crafted episode that not only allowed me to learn more about the train wreck that is the Grey Family, but forced my heart to open up to an uber-damaged Mer.

American Theatre Wing's Annual Gala Raises Record-Breaking Amount

The American Theatre Wing announced today that its annual gala, held this past Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising over $750,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2013, by more than $50,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Network, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running 'Working in the Theatre' media program.

Inspired by Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, the play was a PlayPenn 2013 semi-finalist and short-listed for both the 24/7 (UK) and the Ronald Duncan Award (UK). Costume Designer Melissa Schlachtmeyer Passes Away at 41

Melissa Schlachtmeyer, a costume designer for theater, dance and opera, passed away Wednesday August 6th while traveling in Florence, Italy. She was 41. The cause was complications from breast cancer.
