A noir parody about growing up and moving forward by local playwright Eli Effinger-Weintraub. Gina views moving day as a flag on the shores of maturity and independence. Too bad her father, Troy, makes immaturity and dependence so exciting. While Gina's mother Irene and girlfriend Sarita do the bulk of the work, Troy and Gina indulge in one last round of Girl Gumshoe and Detective Dad, a game from Gina's childhood. But when Detective Dad thinks he's uncovered a murder, the game takes a turn that threatens relationships, living arrangements, and sanity and forces Gina to choose between security and adventure, past and future. Girl Gumshoe and Detective Dad is a comedy that proves it's never too late to grow up--or to avoid growing up at all costs. Girl Gumshoe will be produced at the People's Center Theatre on the West Bank of Minneapolis, and runs today, October 17th-26th.

Oliver! features David Garrison (Fagin), best known for his role as Steve Rhoades on the hit television series Married...with Children, Betsy Morgan (Nancy), John Treacy Egan (Mr. Bumble), Jose Llana (Bill Sikes), David Hess (MR. Brownlow), Ethan Haberfield (Artful Dodger) and introducing Tyler Moran as Oliver. Oliver! also features 16 local boys from across the state of New Jersey who auditioned from a pool of over 200. Oliver! plays the Millburn, New Jersey theater through December 29. The official press opening was last night, December 1, 2013, and BroadwayWorld was there for the festivities. THE PLAYERS FOUNDATION FOR THEATER EDUCATION Executive Director John Martello announced the two-week extension of the The Half: Photographs of Actors Preparing for the State, an exhibition of celebrity photographs of actors in their dressing rooms taken by Simon Annand in the 30 minutes before curtain up, known as the half. The exhibition will now run until June 29th, 2012 at THE PLAYERS (16 Gramercy Park South, New York) and is accompanied by Annand's book The Half.
At the Hale Center Theater Orem in-the-round production of XANADU, the gods of the theater are not fully withdrawn yet they are stingy with divine blessings of inspiration.
XANADU, the deliriously giddy musical based on the deliriously awful '80s movie of the same name, celebrates all things roller disco. At the Hale Orem production, XANADU will get the full-tilt glamour-glitter, discomania treatment-mirrored disco balls, glitter eyeshadow and, of course, leg warmers.
