Teatro Paraguas presents Mariela in the Desert, a play by Karen Zacarias, the lyrical play opening on January 22 for a two week run.

Teatro Paraguas is pleased to announce its 11th season of Latino theater in Santa Fe, presenting six productions and two co-productions beginning in September 2014. The season includes four original productions by New Mexico playwrights.

No doubt about it. The Book Club Play, written by Karen Zacarias and masterfully directed by Matthew Weiner, is an audience's delight and a tribute to the latter's commitment to socially relevant and provocative theatre. The ensemble is as good as it gets ~ a dream cast of dynamic and energetic actors who give fine definition to their roles. However, if there is a fault, it lies not in the stars but in the playwright whose message about culture and relationships gets diluted in this comedy of manners and cross-cutting themes.

Audiences are invited "behind the curtain" to explore the ideas underpinning the productions that you see on the Everyman stage. The panel series will be hosted by renowned radio personality Marc Steiner. Five panel discussions will occur throughout the remainder of the 2013/14 season; each one will take place on the second Saturday of each show's run, beginning at 5 PM.
