The 44th season premiere of “Saturday Night Live” has generated the show's second highest-rated season debut in six years, trailing over that span only 2016's election-fueled results, according to preliminary metered-market “live plus same day” results from Nielsen Media Research.
“Saturday Night Live” will welcome Awkwafina to host the second show of the season on Oct. 6, marking her Studio 8H debut. This summer's breakout star was in two of this summer's blockbuster films, “Ocean's 8” and “Crazy Rich Asians.”

A red carpet life celebration for film star Tab Hunter will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6 PM at the AC Gallery in Hollywood, where a series of life-size paintings of Hunter by famed video director Vance Lorenzini will be unveiled for the first time. Hunter's funeral was held in a private ceremony near his home in Montecito and this will mark the first public event to memorialize him. It will be hosted by Hunter's life partner of three decades, Allan Glaser.
