Since the summer of 2005, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival (HPAF) has continued to bring world-class music to Hawaii Island. JUSTIN JOHN MONIZ from Tallahassee FL is the winner of The American Prize in Vocal Performance, 2017-18 The Friedrich & Virginia Schorr Memorial Award, in the men's professional art song division. JUSTIN JOHN MONIZ was selected from applications reviewed this fall from all across the United States. The American Prize is a series of new, non-profit, competitions unique in scope and structure, designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, ensembles and composers in the United States based on submitted recordings. The American Prize was founded in 2009 and is awarded annually in many areas of the performing arts.
Hawaii Performing Arts Festival (HPAF) has named Justin John Moniz, current Associate Executive Director, award-winning singer, actor, and stage director, the festival's new Executive Director, effective August 7, 2017.
The 2016 BroadwayWorld Detroit Award winners were announced January 6th after weeks of theatre fans nominating then voting for their favorites in the Detroit community! It was the biggest year yet for awards with theatre fans first submitting their nominations in each category then having to make the tough decision on who to place that final vote for. After two successful runs on the Big Island of Hawaii, A Night at the Stork Club moves to Hollywood's Three Clubs for a limited run January 7-8, 2017. The original production featured critically acclaimed vocalists Justin John Moniz and Ashley Lambert, alongside New York City jazz pianist, Phil Kadet. A Night at the Stork Club's upcoming remount will feature the addition of Los Angeles based singer/actress, Laura Hughes, fresh off the North American Tour of Mamma Mia!, where her portrayal of 'Tanya' received acclaim in theaters across the country.
