Andrea McArdle Leads Musical Theatre West's ANNIE as 'Hannigan,' Opens 10/29

Musical Theatre West has announced that Andrea McArdle, Broadway's original Annie, will star as Miss Hannigan in its upcoming production of ANNIE at the beautiful 1070-seat Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. ANNIE previews October 29th and runs October 30th through November 14th. Musical Theatre West Artistic Director/Producer Steven Glaudini directs with musical direction by Daniel Thomas and choreography by Roger Castellano.

VH1's Save the Music Foundation Honors Julie Andrews, 11/8; Cheyenne Jackson Hosts

On Monday, November 8th, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation will honor Julie Andrews along with Grammy® Award Winners John Legend, John Mayer and The ASCAP Foundation. Paul Williams, legendary songwriter and President of The ASCAP Foundation, will accept on behalf of The Foundation. Additionally, Natasha Bedingfield, a member of the VH1 Save The Music Alumni Ambassador Group, is scheduled to perform and the program for the evening, presented by LG Mobile Phones, will celebrate music as a universal language that shapes our life stories and include a special tribute to the 45th Anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music by Kristin Chenoweth. The festivities will be hosted by Broadway veteran and 30 Rock star Cheyenne Jackson.

Harry Connick Jr., Julie Andrews, Audra McDonald et al. Set for 2011 PBS Great Performance Series

PBS has announced that Broadway vets Harry Connick Jr., Julie Andrews and Audra McDonald will be among the performers who will be featured in the 2011 Great Performances Series. As a series centerpiece, the network will air Connick Jr.'s Live on Broadway Concert that ran and the Neil Simon Theatre this summer. The broadcast will run in the late winter/early spring of 2011. On New Year's Day, PBS will broadcast 'From Vienna: The New Year's Celebration' with Julie Andrews. Also in the winter, the series will feature Audra McDonald in concert at Carnegie Hall alongside Yo-Yo Ma, Gil Shaham and Emmanuel Ax.

In anticipation of the November 2, 2010 release of The Sound of Music: 45th Anniversary Edition Soundtrack and Blu-Ray film, the classic movie musical is being celebrated where it all began - in movie theaters across America. NCM Fathom, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment presented THE SOUND OF MUSIC SING-ALONG EVENT: A 45th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION on October 19 and will again on October 26 in over 500 select movie theaters in over 150 cities. On Friday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Broadway stars Kate Baldwin, Aaron Lazar, and Christiane Noll join The New York Pops, under the direction of Steven Reineke to celebrate the 80th birthday of legendary Broadway composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Sondheim-whose actual birthday was on March 22-is widely acknowledged as the most innovative and influential composer and lyricist in modern Broadway history. The concert will feature performances of some of the most beloved songs and soliloquies from Sondheim's extensive career. Vocal ensemble Essential Voices USA-led by Judith Clurman-also joins The New York Pops for this special performance.

On October 28, 2010, Oprah will host the cast of the 1965 film version of The Sound of Music. The entire cast will appear on the program, which will feature a performance by the real-life von Trapp Family Singers. . The cast reunion is timed to The Sound of Music 45th Anniversary Limited Edition Collection, Blu-ray and DVD Combo Packs, all which include a version of the film that has been meticulously restored and re-mastered, will be available beginning November 2 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
