Alistair McGowan to Replace Rupert Everett in West End PYGMALION

According to Whatsonstage.com, Rupert Everett will leave the West End production of PYGMALION on AUguust 15 because of previous television commitments. Stepping into the role of Henry Higgins will be Alistair McGowan, who takes over through September 3. The production opened at the Garrick Theatre on May 25.

First reported exclusively by BroadwayWorld.com on Tuesday, the producers of the new musical BONNIE & CLYDE have announced that the show as the first new musical to open this fall on Broadway. It will play at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street), beginning previews on Friday, November 4th and opening on Thursday, December 1st. BONNIE & CLYDE has direction by JEFF CALHOUN, music by FRANK WILDHORN, lyrics by DON BLACK, book by IVAN MENCHELL and music supervision/orchestrations/arrangements by JOHN McDANIEL.

This summer, Broadway actors Darlene Love, Julia Murney, Anthony Rapp and Matt Dengler star in 'Free to Dream: New Songs for the American Journey,' a concert specially adapted for Colonial Williamsburg. Television personality Willard Scott also lends his recorded voice to the program, which showcases the people and places that make up the fabric of America with musical styles from country, rock and pop to swing and the blues. It is a compilation of pieces by Grammy-winning composer Doug Katsaros and two-time Emmy-nominated lyricist William Schermerhorn. A nine-piece band accompanies the singers.
