Nine World Premieres & More Announced for San Francisco Ballet 2023 Repertory Season

San Francisco Ballet today announced its 90th Season, which will celebrate the trailblazing company’s nine decades of pushing ballet forward through offering innovative new works and adaptations, highlighting the world’s leading and emerging choreographers and dancers, and performing beloved classical ballets at the highest caliber.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS Postpones Block Party Due to Inclement Weather

While painting the town green in honor of the 40th anniversary of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS’ world premiere in 1982, Tony Award-winning producers Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens and Hunter Arnold have overfed the plants (with an abundance of rain) and will need to postpone the block party originally scheduled for Friday, May 6.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS Announces 40th Anniversary Celebrations

The Off-Broadway revival of Alan Menken & Howard Ashman's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS will paint the town green in honor of the musical's ruby red 40th anniversary. Beginning Thursday, April 28, and throughout the month of May, there will be various events, contests, special performances, and activations to celebrate the beloved, award-winning show's incredible legacy.

San Diego Opera's Season Closes Next Month With The West Coast Premiere Of AGING MAGICIAN

San Diego Opera's 2021-2022 will close with the West Coast Premiere of Aging Magician a hybrid opera/theatre piece that combines singing, choral work, puppetry, and performance art to create an incredibly unique theatrical experience. Originally scheduled for our 2019-2020 season, and postponed because of COVID-19, San Diego Opera is delighted to finally be able to reschedule this opera for this season.

Joffrey Ballet Announces 2022-23 Season

Ashley Wheater MBE, The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet, today announced the Joffrey’s 2022–2023 Season at Lyric Opera House, featuring a world premiere from a rising choreographic star, a revival from a Joffrey icon, the return of a Joffrey blockbuster, and a full-length story ballet of such grand scale that it is rarely seen in the United States.

Production photos have been released of two-time Grammy nominee and Theater World Award winner Conrad Ricamora as Seymour in the three-time Best Musical Revival Award-winning production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Ricamora began his run in the starring role on January 11, 2022 at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street).

Final Week to Experience Joffrey's THE NUTCRACKER

After cancelling three performances due to a breakthrough case of COVID-19 within the company ranks, The Joffrey Ballet resumed performances on Sunday, December 19. Artists to wear protective face coverings for the final nine performances, which will resume this week as originally scheduled.

American Lyric Theater to Present THE OPPOSABLE THUMB

American Lyric Theater has announced its return to live performances with a workshop performance of The Opposable Thumb by composer Jorge Sosa and librettist Julian Crouch. The performance, part of the company's popular InsightALT series, will take place Friday, October 1, 2021 at 7pm at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, 450 W. 37th Street.

American Lyric Theater Returns To Live Performances With THE OPPOSABLE THUMB

The Opposable Thumb was commissioned by American Lyric Theater under the auspices of the company's nationally acclaimed Composer Librettist Development Program. Based on various true accounts of the last two hundred years, this fascinating work questions whether mankind is superior to the animals that are contained behind the bars of a zoo's cages, or just another ape with an opposable thumb, and a trigger pulling finger.
