When 18-year-old Josh pulls the string hanging from a box propped up on a shelf in his family's living room, he gets showered with dozens of soft white feathers.  The mile-wide smile and limitlessly joyful expression on his face, and the happy tingle you can imagine must be tickling his body all over, tells you that playing with this homemade toy is something he does frequently to bring him comfort and momentary, completely innocent happiness.

Terry Schnuck, James & Catherine Berges, Crystal Beuerlein, and Michael & Noemi Neidorff, producers of the new Off-Broadway play, recently announced that they will donate $5 for each full-price ticket purchased for performances in October to Autism Speaks. On October 12, 2012, The New York Pops orchestra launched its 30th Season at Carnegie Hall with Some Enchanted Evening: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a "polished, welcoming host" who is "young and vigorous, with a playful attitude" - led the orchestra in a highly-anticipated opening with Broadway favorites by beloved duo Rodgers and Hammerstein. The performance featured guest artists Aaron Lazar, Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot, along with Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA and New York Theatre Ballet. The program included classics from Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. Megan Hilty to Appear with NSO Pops, 11/23-24

The National Symphony Orchestra Pops today announced that Megan Hilty, known nationwide as triple-threat Ivy Lynn on NBC's hit Smash, will perform with the Orchestra November 23-24, 2012 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Ms. Hilty will perform three concerts paying tribute to the music of Frank Sinatra, as well as the Rat Pack, Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. The performances will be led by NSO Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke.
