PETER AND THE STARCATCHER to Open September 22 at Berkeley Playhouse

Berkeley Playhouse opens up their 9th season at the historic Julia Morgan theater with Peter and the Starcatcher, the Tony Award-winning prequel to Peter Pan. Based on the acclaimed 2006 novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, the thrilling stage adaptation by Rick Elice, whose Broadway credits include The Addams Family and Jersey Boys, takes flight September 22, 2016 with performances running through October 16, 2016. 

Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Opens This Month at Berkeley Playhouse

Berkeley Playhouse closes out the groundbreaking 2015-16 season with Disney's ultimate fish-out-of-water family musical, The Little Mermaid. Featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken,Disney's The Little Mermaid performs June 23-July 31, 2016 at the historic Julia Morgan Theater in Berkeley. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD to Open 4/30 at Berkeley Playhouse

Berkeley Playhouse will produce the first non-musical in its nine-year history with Christopher Sergel's adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. The show will be directed by Berkeley Playhouse's Producing Artistic Director Daren A.C. Carollo (Berkeley Playhouse's Peter Pan, Hairspray; Broadway: A Time to Kill; Off-Broadway: bare The Musical; Regional: Diablo Theatre Company, City Lights Theatre Company, Napa Valley Opera House, Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre, Town Hall Theatre Company). Previews begin April 28. The show runs from April 30 to May 22 at the Julia Morgan Theater, 2640 College Ave in Berkeley, CA. Tickets are now available through the box office. THE ADDAMS FAMILY Opens 3/26 at Berkeley Playhouse

 Berkeley Playhouse at the historic Julia Morgan Theater continues their most acclaimed season yet, with The Addams Family. The show isdirected and choreographed by long time Berkeley Playhouse associate Kimberly Dooley (Berkeley Playhouse's Mary Poppins, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Wiz, Suessical the Musical.). Davis (2009 Writers' Guild Award winner and Daytime Emmy Award nominee for As the World Turns), composed by Douglas J. Cohen (2005 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics for Off-Broadway's Children's Letters to God, Richard Rodgers Grants and the Gilman & Conzalez-Falla Theatre Foundation Award for Off-Broadway's No Way to Treat a Lady), and conceived by Founding Artistic Director Elizabeth McKoy (developer of new musical theatre works for Berkeley Playhouse including: Born And Raised, Bravado, and Just So Stories).

2015 Adult Elly Award Winners Announced - IN THE HEIGHTS Wins Big!

Sacramento, CA -This year the 33rd annual Elly Awards - Adult Division were announced at the candy-decorated Elks Lodge No. 6 in Sacramento on Sunday night. Named for Eleanor McClatchy, a devoted patron of the arts and former publisher of the Sacramento Bee, the Elly Awards celebrates excellence in Sacramento's local and regional community theater. A grand total of 34 Elly Awards, plus two lifetime achievement awards, were given to individuals and theaters from across a 10-county region in the Adult Division which includes Comedy, Drama, Musicals and Original Works. Sponsored by the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance (SARTA), this formal event was attended by nearly 300 active community theatre members and their families and friends.

The artistic team will be headed by favorite Bay Area actor Danny Cozart (Assassins with Shotgun Players, Babes in Arms with 42nd Street Moon), in his directorial debut. Avenue Q runs from tonight, September 17 - October 11, 2015.
