TCG Celebrates 2013 World Theatre Day with Book Donation and Delegations to Cuba and Sudan

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre and home of the U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI-US), invites all theatres, individual artists, institutions and audiences to celebrate the 51st annual World Theatre Day today, March 27, 2013. Each year, a renowned theatre artist of world stature is invited by ITI Worldwide in Paris to craft an international message to mark the global occasion. This year the message was written by Italian Nobel Prize-winning playwright, director and actor Dario Fo, and has been translated into more than 20 languages to reach tens of thousands in the international theatre community.

Matthew Dunster will direct Rodney Ackland's Before The Party at the Almeida from tonight, 21 March - 11 May 2013, with press night on 28 March. Based on a short story by Somerset Maugham, Before The Party has designs by Anna Fleischle with lighting by Philip Gladwell and sound by Ian Dickinson. Casting will be announced shortly.
SKYFALL Writer John Logan Says He's 'Still a Playwright'

John Logan had a big year at the box office, having written the screenplay for the critically acclaimed latest 007 installment- Skyfall, but he just revealed in a recent interview that he won't be leaving theatre anytime soon. He told the Telegraph: "I've always loved the movies, but when I wake up in the morning I'm still a playwright. Hollywood is not my world. My world is the theatre."
Michael Caine to be Awarded Freedom of the City of London

British actor Sir Michael Caine will be given the Freedom of the City of London.
In the past, the honour has been bestowed upon other actors including Dame Judi Dench, and figures such as Winston Churchill, Diana, Princess of Wales and Nelson Mandela have also been recipients.

Peek behind the scenes of Peter and Alice - John Logan's new play which continues the Michael Grandage Company Season at the Noel Coward Theatre. Joining Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw are Olly Alexander, Ruby Bentall,Stefano Braschi, Nicholas Farrell and Derek Riddell. The production follows the critically acclaimed Privates on Parade, and opens on 25 March, with previews from 9 March, and runs until 1 June 2013.

Box-office smash, SKYFALL, will soon be available to own in high-definition, it was announced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Skyfall released on Digital HD February 5th across all digital stores including Amazon, CinemaNow, iTunes, PlayStation, VUDU and Xbox Live. The Skyfall Blu-ray and DVD will follow today, February 12th in North America and February 18th in the United Kingdom with additional international markets to follow through March.
