WET (Women's Expressive Theater, Inc.) launches its 8th season with the World Premiere of Brooke Berman's A PERFECT COUPLE. Produced on an Off-Broadway contract, this limited engagement production is directed by Maria Mileaf (THE ARGUMENT at The Vineyard). Previews begin June 7th at the DR2 (103 East 15th Street) where WET became the first theater company in residence last year.

Magic Theatre announced Loretta Greco as its new artistic director. Ms. Greco comes to the Magic with an acclaimed directing career regionally and in New York, as well as celebrated producing experience as the Producing Artistic Director of Women's Project in NYC and as Associate Director and Staff Producer of McCarter Theatre.

New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) continues its 20th Anniversary season by presenting Bastianello and Lucrezia, two newly commissioned comic operas by composers John Musto and William Bolcom with libretti by Mark Campbell. The concerts will take place on Tuesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 13 at 8PM, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, West 57th Street and 7th Avenue.

The Intentional Theatre Group, in association with Small Pond Entertainment, presents Archipelago, 10 short one-person plays directed by The It Group's Founding Artistic Director, Emerie Snyder. Well regarded LA theatre producer and actress/dancer Denise Wisenmeyer, passed away over the weekend of Feb. 11th, at her home in Chatham, IL. She was 53 years old. From all appearances she died peacefully in her sleep. Police found her in bed when they entered her house after family members had tried in vain to reach her.

The new Boublil and Schonberg musical The Pirate Queen, starring Stephanie J. Block as the swashbuckling title character, will begin previews at the Hilton Theatre on Broadway beginning March 6, 2007 for an opening night on April 5th!

Curt Dempster, Founding Artistic Director of Ensemble Studio Theatre, was found dead at his home in New York City today (January 19, 2007). The cause remains undetermined at this time.
