A View from the Bridge is the passionate and explosive story of the Carbone family and their Sicilian cousins as they discover that the American dream comes at a price.

Alley Theatre held its second annual new play festival - the 2017 Alley All New Festival from February 2-12- and a World Premiere of NSangou Njikam's Syncing Ink on February 8 2017. The festival included seven plays from playwrights including Robert Askins, Bekah Brunstetter and Rajiv Joseph.  The festival also welcomed more than 40 artists, including Suzanne Vega, Faith Prince and Josie de Guzman.

Lincoln Center's acclaimed American Songbook series returns for its 18th season of celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting. During February and March 2016, established and rising singers and singer-songwriters across a range of genres-Southern soul, bluegrass, folk, R&B, indie rock, pop, musical theater, and more-will take The Appel Room stage for concerts that explore the many iterations of American song. And in spring, American Songbook will return to Alice Tully Hall with two dynamic women whose artistry in two very different arenas demonstrates the expansive reach of American song embodied in the series.

One of the neat things about writing a column for Broadway World is that you get a chance to interview some folks whose work you've been enjoying and admiring for many years. One of today's subjects first came on my radar way back in 1980 with the Broadway revival of West Side Story. Debbie Allen played Anita in that production and her Her performance deservedly garnered her a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award. A few years later she wowed me again playing the lead role in Sweet Charity, which resulted in yet another Tony Award nomination.

It is a genuine pleasure to see such a capable cast going through their paces with verve and a certain aplomb. When an ensemble so obviously enjoy what they are doing, it connects instantly with the audience, and a full house roared and applauded throughout the performance.

The production features members of the Resident Acting Company and begins October 7 and runs through November 5. Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Agatha Christie's Spider's Web, Agatha Christie's only comedy thriller, beginning performances July 12 in the Hubbard Theatre. The popular ExxonMobil Summer Chills series returns to the Alley after a two-year break and offers a cool escape from the summer heat. The series is the perfect introduction to live theatre for first-timers.

This summer, the Alley Theatre will produce Agatha Christie's Spider's Web during its popular ExxonMobil Summer Chills Series July 12 - August 14. In addition, the Alley is launching a new Summer Thrills Series inviting audiences to the concert musical - A Night With Janis Joplin - the first rock & roll theatre piece on the new Hubbard stage, August 19 - September 18, 2016. Tickets will go on sale June 1 and will be available online (alleytheatre.org) or by phone (713.220.5700).

THE NETHER is a chilling tale about how the division between technology and our lives begin to blur, and the ethical consequences that result when access to this technology fall into the wrong hands. Engaging performances from an all-star cast, unique character development, notable set and lighting designs, and intricate storytelling had me on the edge of my seat for its 85 minute run time.
