The Town Hall, New York's landmark theatre and concert venue continues the 6th Annual Summer Broadway Festival, with Broadway's Rising Stars on July 23rd at 8pm. Over a dozen Broadway and international artists, including cast members from hit shows The Lion King, Fela, Bring It On, Book of Mormon, and the original productions of In The Heights, Swing! and Kiss of the Spider Woman, among others, will donate their time as volunteer teachers for R.Evolución Latina's 5th Annual Dare to Go Beyond (D2GB) Children's Performing Arts Camp, scheduled for July 16-20.

Producers of The Gershwins' PORGY AND BESS, the 2012 Tony Award winner for Best Revival of a Musical, announced today that Audra McDonald has been ordered on a period of complete vocal rest by her doctor through the end of the month. As a result of performing with a respiratory infection last week, her vocal cords have become inflamed to a point where she cannot sing. She is scheduled to return to the production on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.

Last night, June 10, Audra McDonald took home her 5th Tony Award for for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her role of 'Bess' in THE GERSWIN's PORGY AND BESS. Though we'd think she'd be used to the feeling of winning by now, McDonald spoke with BroadwayWorld just moments after her win only to reveal how it still feels 'out of body'. Yesterday, June 3, the Dramatists Guild Fund hosted their 50th Anniversary Gala at the Mandarin Oriental New York. This year's event, hosted by Jon Cryer, honored Chicago and Cabaret composer John Kander. Performances and tributes were given by well-known members of the theater community including Liza Minnelli, Chita Rivera, Bebe Neuwirth, Christie Brinkley, Stockard Channing, Joel Grey, Rob Marshall, Susan Stroman, Debra Monk, Karen Ziemba and Joshua Henry.
