KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY is a witty yet caustic musical comedy about a man who 'cannot take orders from anybody.' The limited run of the York production opened on Friday, June 26th and BroadwayWorld's cameras were there.
The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) is pleased to announce casting for KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY (playing June 26-28), the 75th staged concert in the history of the Musicals in Mufti series.
Nick Gaswirth ('Harpo Marx' in last season's Musicals in Mufti Minnie's Boys) will replace Bobby Steggert in the role of Brom Broeck in this weekend's concert presentation of KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY by the York Theatre Company. Mr. Steggert had to leave unexpectedly due to a family emergency. Also, Ric Stoneback (1776, Paper Mill) has replaced John O'Creagh.
PROJECT SHAW, now in its third of its four-year series, continues tackling every play George Bernard Shaw ever wrote. The group presented THE SIMPLETON OF THE UNEXPECTED ISLES and THE SIX OF CALAIS on Monday June 15th. This was its 39th presentation evening.
Producers Emanuel Azenberg and Ira Pittelman are pleased to announce that THE NEIL SIMON PLAYS, new productions of Neil Simon's BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS and BROADWAY BOUND, will play Broadway's beautifully restored Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). One of the nice perks about this job is getting to meet some extraordinarily talented people who you know will be giving some great performances to some very fortunate theatergoers. One of those people is Stacia Fernandez, who I met after a performance of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. She was the understudy for Beth Leveal and put on an amazing performance. She is currently appearing in the new musical Lucky Guy at Goodspeed's Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Connecticut.

The 54th Annual Drama Desk Awards were held tonight, Sunday, May 17, 2009 in the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Drama Desk nominees received their official Nomination Certificates at a cocktail reception on Friday, May 1st at Il Bastardo restaurant, 191 Seventh Avenue (between 21st and 22nd Streets).
The 75th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon took place today Friday, May 15, 2009 in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square (1535 Broadway at 46th Street). The event was co-hosted by Jeremy Irons (Impressionism) and Cynthia Nixon (Distracted).
