by Steve Wilson - Feb 26, 2015

Like a group of Jehovah's Witnesses on steroids, The Book of Mormon is currently playing at the Music Hall in Kansas City. The Broadway Across America satire musical with book, lyrics, and music by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone runs through March 8. The creators of South Park, Stone, and Parker with Lopez's music have created a musical religious comedy that makes Monty Python, Benny Hill, and Saturday Night Live look like dramatic pieces.

Bookworks Presents June's IT'S ABOUT BOOKS
by BWW News Desk - Jul 1, 2014

Dear Bookworks Bookworm, I read a book this month that I had every intention of liking, but didn't. It had a story line that interested me but the characters were one dimensional and flat and the writing that was not worth writing home about. Rather than review a book that disappoints, I decided to review a movie that I had just seen with Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche, Words and Pictures. This is a movie well worth the ticket price. It is always a pleasure seeing a movie where actors do what they should be doing best, acting and where writers are doing what they should be doing best, writing.

BWW Reviews: The Orpheum Proselytizes - Sort of - With THE BOOK OF MORMON
by Joseph Baker - Jun 26, 2014

I see them occasionally - white shirts (usually with pockets), black trousers, clean-shaven, and cradling folders and totes. They often are on a corner; at times, they are walking through the parking lots of apartment complexes. They are unfailingly polite; more often than not, they respect our 'Puh-lease'-don't-bother-me looks or our efforts to look as if more important business is calling us elsewhere. These sweet-natured people are usually more interested in our welfare than we ourselves are, and, well, that's nice.
