The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced the line-up today for the 2018 Free Shakespeare in the Park season, continuing a 56-year tradition of free theater in Central Park.

Today Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein announced that A.R. Gurney's play Later Life would star Liam Craig, Barbara Garrick, Laurence Lau, and Jodie Markell, directed by Mr. Silverstein.

MIRIAM HOFFMAN, author, scholar, playwright & survivor will be reading selections from her new book A Breed Apart: Reflections of a Young Refugee, on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 8pm at the Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave Coral Gables, Florida. She will be joined by her son, Avi Hoffman, the award-winning actor & performer, with special musical guest, Randi Fishenfeld. The evening will include a multi-media presentation, discussion, Q&A & book signing. The event, which is co-sponsored by the University of Miami/Miller Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies, will be FREE & open to the public.

In honor of Joseph Papp's extraordinary contributions to the City of New York and the East Village, the intersection of Lafayette Street and Astor Place has been co-named Joseph Papp Way. The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that in honor of Joseph Papp's extraordinary contributions to the City of New York and the East Village, the intersection of Lafayette Street and Astor Place has been co-named Joseph Papp Way. The Public, celebrating the 50th anniversary of its landmark home at 425 Lafayette Street, will host the naming ceremony celebrating the distinguished honor on Friday, December 1 at 8:30 a.m. at the Astor Place Plaza and is open to the public. The ceremony will include remarks by Oskar Eustis, Commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs Tom Finkelpearl, District 2 City Councilwoman Rosie Mendez, and Public Theater Board Member Gail Papp, who will unveil the commemorative sign.
