Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, which is now in previews and opens at the Minetta Lane Theatre tonight, November 13, assembles some of America's most illustrious and Award-winning playwrights, including Mo Gaffney, Jordan Harrison, Moisés Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, José Rivera, Paul Rudnick and Doug Wright, all responding to one of the defining issues of our day -- the on-going battle for marriage equality throughout the United States - in a heartfelt, funny and altogether illuminating evening of short plays that celebrates the courage to be in a relationship - any relationship.

The Off Broadway production of Standing On Ceremony kicked off its open-ended run on November 7, and featured an introduction from EVan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry. Conceived by Brian Shnipper and directed by Stuart Ross, Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. The official opening night set for Sunday, November 13 and a premiere cast that includes Craig Bierko, Mark Consuelos, Polly Draper, Harriet Harris, Beth Leavel and Richard Thomas. Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, November 9, for its popular LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to the New York premiere of MAPLE AND VINE, a new play by Jordan Harrison (Doris to Darlene at Playwrights Horizons, Amazons and Their Men, Kid-Simple), directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman (The Thugs, Stunning, Naked Angels' This Wide Night, Mr. Harrison's Act a Lady).

Joan Stein and Richard Frankel (Producers) announced today that the new theatrical event Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, which premieres Off Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre in NYC this fall, will join with Tectonic Theater Project (Moisés Kaufman, Artistic Director; Greg Reiner, Executive Director) to help take the play's message of marriage equality across the globe.

Hennepin Theatre Trust and producers Joan Stein and Richard Frankel announced today that the new theatrical event Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays will run for one night only at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's New Century Theatre with Wendy Knox of Frank Theatre directing a cast of six.

In MAPLE AND VINE, Katha (Marin Ireland) and Ryu (Peter Kim) have become allergic to their 21st-century lives. After they meet a charismatic man from a community of 1950s re-enactors, they forsake cell phones and sushi for cigarettes and Tupperware parties. In this compulsively authentic world, Katha and Ryu are surprised by what their new neighbors - and they themselves - are willing to sacrifice for happiness.

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center will present a special, encore performance of the smash hit Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. The Center's Renberg Theatre will join theaters across the nation on the same evening to showcase this outstanding collection of short plays in support of the ongoing movement for the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. The one-night-only engagement will take place Monday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m.

Next Theatre Company is set to present the Chicago premiere of Jordan Harrison's new play, Maple and Vine, directed by Damon Kiely, October 27 - December 4, at 927 Noyes Street.
