At a press conference held at Barrington Stage Company's St. Germain Stage, Artistic Director Julianne Boyd announced the 2013 season of musicals and plays that will take place in downtown Pittsfield in the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage and St. Germain Stage (formerly Stage 2) venues in 2013. Following four critically acclaimed shows since its launch earlier this year, the Back to the Musicals series returns to The Pheasantry in Chelsea today, 9th December 2012, with A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, a celebration of festive music from the world of theatre and film.

Due to popular demand 54 Below, Broadway's nightclub, has added a second show on Wednesday, December 5th at 11:15PM for New York's hottest songwriting duo - Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. The phenomenon known as Pasek & Paul, who sold out their 9:30PM show, is currently represented on Broadway with the holiday hit A Christmas Story! Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), the not-for-profit which brought new life to the historic Theatre By The Sea for the past five years, has announced the opening of their first two productions at their new state-of-the-Art Theatre located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick. Something "Naughty & Nice" for the Holidays, which features productions of both SantaLand Diaries and The Winter Wonderettes, will open in previews tonight, December 5.

In 1994 Anthony Rapp was working at a Starbucks and about to audition for Rent a new musical by a young guy named Jonathan Larson. An inspiring story about friends and artists struggling in New York's Lower East Side, it was based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme. Anthony got the part, but Jonathan died suddenly the night before the musical's off-Broadway premiere.

One of the nation's most prominent of the many productions of "A Christmas Carol" that crop up like greenery this time of year is the one at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. Now in its 35th annual outing, it's a warm, thought-provoking and timeless tale of redemption and good will, humanity and universality that, surprisingly , shares with Jonathan Larson's "Rent" an immediate central theme. "No day but today" might very well be a line from Charles Dickens' short 1843 novel of the same name, as pithy and wise as the novel's, and this show's, ending line: "God bless us, everyone."
