Highway Run Productions' RENT, currently playing at Hayes Theatre Co, sold out before it had opened and desperate fans have been calling the box office daily and lurking around the foyer before each performance in the hopes that a ticket might materialise. Producers Toby Francis and Lauren Peters have today announced that those who missed out this season (and those that are itching to see it again) will get another chance in 2016 when the production returns to Hayes Theatre Co for a strictly limited three-week season in March/April.

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists participating in its two Fall artist development programs: the Alumni Writers Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY, which ran October 4-11, as well as the two-week Theatre Lab for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), taking place November 8-22. Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the initiatives are among the 24 residency Labs the Institute hosts each year for independent artists in theatre, film, new media and episodic content.

Collider Theater presents the world premiere production of LOVE, SEX AND DEATH IN THE AMAZON opening tonight, October 10 at The Paradise Factory at 64E4 in the East Village.

A stunning new multimedia musical which explores a groundbreaking new concept in musical theatre, this intricately woven collection of stories told through song re-imagines what the modern American musical can be.

InProximity Theatre Company will present the NYC premiere of PROMISING, written by Michelle Elliott and directed by Terry Berliner. PROMISING begins performances on Saturday, November 14 for a limited engagement through Saturday, December 5. Opening Night is Wednesday, November 18 at 8 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday at 7 PM; Wednesday - Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM &  8 PM; Sunday at 3 PM. Please note, there are added Wednesday matinee performances on November 25 and December 2 at 2 PM; there is no performance on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26). New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced an extension for FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND, the first production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2015/16 Season. FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND began previews on Friday, September 11, 2015 and officially opened on Monday, September 28, 2015 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003), and will now run through Saturday, October 24 2015. Tickets for FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND are now on sale at www.nytw.org.

Pioneer Theatre Company reprises its successful concert series for a limited run. Richard O'Brien's raucous musical THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW is being offered as a special event, for four performances only, in a script-in-hand, singing-and-dancing concert-style presentation on Thursday, October 22, at 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 23 at 8:00 p.m. andSaturday, October 24 at 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Tickets for LAZARUS, the second production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) (Artistic Director James C.  New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced the full cast for LAZARUS, by David Bowie and Enda Walsh (Once, Tony Award), inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, and directed by Ivo van Hove (Hedda Gabler, More Stately Mansions, Obie Awards). LAZARUS begins previews on November 18, with an opening night set for December 7, 2015.

Just last night, the American Theatre Wing hosted its annual Gala at The Plaza Hotel (Fifth Avenue at Central Park South), honoring legendary actor James Earl Jones. Mr. Jones is a two-time Tony Award winner, two-time Obie Award winner and alumnus of the American Theatre Wing Professional School. CeCe Black, Anki Leeds, and Marva Smalls will serve as Gala Chairs.

There are some shows that a director just doesn't mess with. However, RENT, Jonathan Larson's urban reworking of LA BOHEME, is more pliable than a pizza.
