Hume-Fogg senior Bryce Poole, who plays Benny, is among the ensemble of student actors taking on the challenge of the iconic musical by Jonathan Larson under the direction of First Night Honoree Daron Bruce and his longtime artistic collaborator Lisa Forbis. As curtain time looms in just a few hours, Bryce shared some of his memories of his life in the theater to date and talked about the people and shows that figure prominently in his own life, lived theatrically, in today's edition of High School Drama.

As has been the school's theatrical legacy, Rent will feature a cast of talented and ambitious up-and-coming young actors, including Zach Taylor, the senior who will be closing out his high school theatrical career as Roger in the Jonathan Larson musical that is now celebrating its 25th anniversary with an international tour. The Yale University-bound Taylor found time in his harried schedule - what with classes and rehearsals, that's a miracle in and of itself - to take on our High School Drama questions and to offer some background about his love of the stage and what motivates him as he preps a new character for the audience.

Keen Company Announces the Participants in the 2017 Keen Playwrights Lab

Each season, the Keen Playwrights Lab brings together three mid-career playwrights to develop new full-length plays inspired by Keen Company's mission. Under the leadership of Jeremy Stoller, Keen's Director of New Work, writers meet throughout the year to create new plays that provoke identification, reflection, and emotional connection. The Playwrights Lab culminates with a reading of each new play in the spring, attended by the Keen community, the theater industry, and the general public. Keen's fourth season of the Playwrights Lab will allow Julia Jordan, Andrea Thome and Stefanie Zadravec to develop new plays.

CRANE: ON EARTH, IN SKY Comes to Nebraska for World Premiere

Ibex, Inc, announced today that the world premiere for CRANE: ON EARTH, IN SKY, created by Heather Henson and Ty DeFoe with direction by Maija Gracia, will take place at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska (www.liedcenter.org) on March 9th and 10th. This will be followed by an engagement at the Merryman Performing Arts Center in Kearney, Nebraska (www.merrymancenter.org) on March 13th. A national tour and possible return to New York City are planned. An earlier version of the show was performed as part of the La Mama Theatre Puppet Series.
