This Just In! Jonathan Groff to Take Over as King George in HAMILTON!

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff will join the cast of HAMILTON as 'King George' on Tuesday, March 3. Groff, who performed in The Public's recent revival of Hair as well as The Bacchae and The Singing Forest, is replacing Brian d'Arcy James, who will be starring in Something Rotten on Broadway this spring. The world premiere musical HAMILTON, inspired by the book 'Alexander Hamilton' by Ron Chernow, with book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Thomas Kail, has been extended three times at The Public due to sold-out demand and will close as scheduled on Sunday, May 3 prior to a Broadway transfer to the Richard Rodgers Theatre beginning July 13 and opening August 6.

Stage and screen star Josh Gad is still blown away by the success of Frozen, the film for which he voiced one of Disney's newest favorites, Olaf. Gad told Metro: 'Frozen. People stop me on the street for an animated character, where they don't even see my face, on a daily basis.' He continued: 'It's two years later and it's still as popular. As BroadwayWorld reported last night, Disney's FROZEN is aiming to hit the stage by 2017. According to a report by the Daily Mail, the movie musical's Oscar-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez met with the film's writer and co-director Jennifer Lee, head of Disney Theatricals Thomas Schumacher, and Broadway and West End director Alex Timbers to discuss their options. Lee is writing the book with guidance from the Lopezes, who have also written 'a couple' of new songs for the show.

Lancaster's music scene has been greatly enriched by the stirrings of cabaret that have begun over the past few years. The end of January was notable, however, for two days of outstanding cabaret in a row on the 30th and 31st, first with Lancaster-based performer Reji Woods at the Ware Center, and then with Lancaster-bred performer Jonathan Groff giving a fundraiser at Ephrata Performing Arts Center.

Scott Alan made his concert debut at 54 Below just last week on, January 19th with a slew of Broadway all-star talent, including 2014 Tony winners Jessie Mueller and James Monroe Iglehart, Tony nominees Joshua Henry andChad Kimball, as well as Lilla Crawford, Erin Davie, Mykal Kilgore, Natalie Weiss, Christine Dwyer, Julian Cihi, Danny Calvert, Elizabeth Stanley, Abby Mueller, Christiane Noll, Jessica Phillips, Lisa Brescia, Ashley Brown, Eden Espinosa, Marcus Paul James, Julia Murney, Marissa Rosen, Christina Cataldo and Galyana Castillo joined Alan.
