INTAR (Lou Moreno, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) will present American Jornalero, a new play written by Ed Cardona, Jr., directed by Mariana Carreño-King, beginning performances Off-Broadway tomorrow, May 3rd, and continuing through June 3rd only, at INTAR (500 West 52nd Street at Tenth Avenue, on the 4th Floor). Opening Night is set for Monday May 7th at 8pm. The play runs 80 minutes with no intermission. See photos from the production below!

Playwrights' Arena with Artistic Director Jon Lawrence Rivera, the only theatre dedicated to discovering, nurturing and producing original works written exclusively by Los Angeles playwrights, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with their annual fund-raiser presenting HOT NIGHT IN THE CITY: an evening of songs by local composers and lyricists on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the Los Angeles Theatre Center -- our home in historic downtown Los Angeles. The special performance, which benefits the programs of Playwrights' Arena, celebrates the works of Los Angeles' most adventurous resident composers and lyricists writing for the theater today and honors Theresa Chavez & Rose Portillo (Artistic Director and Associate Director of About Productions) and Velina Hasu Houston (Playwright) with the *Lee Melville Award for their outstanding contribution to the Los Angeles theater community.

LA Gay and Lesbian Center's THE SONNETEER Extends Run Thru 4/3

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center's production of the world premiere of The Sonneteer, the new play by award-winning playwright Nick Salamone, has been extended by popular demand. After garnering outstanding reviews from the Los Angeles Times, the LA Weekly, and many others, The Sonneteer will play at the Center's Davidson/Valentini Theatre through April 3 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m.

Asian American Theater Conference and Festival to be Held in LA, 6/16-26

For the first time, the National Asian American Theater Conference and the National Asian American Theater Festival will be held jointly from June 16-25, 2011. The event will be presented in Los Angeles by the Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists (CAATA) and hosted by Asian American Theaters East West Players and Teada Productions, both residing in Los Angeles.

PROOF has extended to Thursday, March 24 at 8pm and will run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, at the Open Fist Theatre, 6209 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.
