Forced Entertainment Receives The International Ibsen Award

Sheffield based theatre company Forced Entertainment are to become the first ever UK based recipients of one of theatre's most prestigious awards it was today announced. The International Ibsen Award, honouring extraordinary contribution to art and culture, is only given every two years by the Norwegian government on Henrik Ibsen's birthday. The prize is 2.5 million Norwegian Kroner, equivalent to around £200,000. The first ever group to win the prize, Forced Entertainment join a distinguished list of previous winners including Peter Handke, Heiner Goebbels, Jon Fosse, Ariane Mnouchkine and Peter Brook. The award ceremony will take place during the International Ibsen Festival at the National Theatre in Oslo in September where Forced Entertainment will showcase a selection of their groundbreaking work.

Steep Theatre Company opened its first show, Keith Reddin's Life During Wartime, in early March 2001. On March 7, 2016, the ensemble will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a one-night-only staged reading of Simon Stephens' HARPER REGAN, held in Steppenwolf Theatre's upstairs performance space. Steep's 2010 production of HARPER REGAN was a landmark production for the ensemble and an iconic example of Steep's daring, powerful, and ensemble-driven brand of theatre.
New Worlds Theatre Project to Stage World Premiere of Pinski's PROFESSOR BRENNER

New Worlds Theatre Project (Ellen Perecman, Producing Artistic Director) has announced that it will present the world premiere of David Pinski's comic tragedy, Professor Brenner, directed by Paul Takacs, in a translation by Ellen Perecman, beginning Sunday, November 1 at 2pm at HERE, 145 Sixth Avenue. The opening night is set for Monday, November 2 at 7pm.

Gleams Theatre is excited to present the Canadian premiere of Where Were You When I Was Coming? Written by C. S. Hanson and directed by Ira Sokolova, the show will be part of the 25th edition of the Montreal St-Ambroise Fringe Festival from June 13-21, at Espace 4001 Space. Where Were You When I Was Coming? was first produced in Canada by Gleams Theatre last December as the inaugural show of the theatre company's new venture, Hotel Theatre. Sokolova, Gleams Theatre artistic director, is honoured that the NYC playwright is looking forward to attending shows on Wednesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 18.

Angels in America by Tony Kushner will be revived by Toneelgroep Amsterdam an directed by Ivo van Hove at BAM's Howard Gilman Opera House (30 Lafayette Ave) on October 23 & 24 at 7 p.m. and October 25 at 6 p.m. The production will feature set and light design by Jan Versweyveld, costume design by Wojciech Dziedzic, video design by Tal Yarden and music by Wim Selles. In Dutch with English titles.

Chunky Move joins forces with Melbourne Theatre Company, Melbourne and Brisbane Festivals for Complexity of Belonging, an international co-production that will push perceptions of contemporary Australian theatre.
