Stagedoor Manor, the world-renowned summer training center for future stars, located in the Catskill Mountains, announced today that this summer it will honor award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. A celebration at Stagedoor, aptly titled 'A Weekend in the Country with the Music of Stephen Sondheim,' will showcase and pay tribute to Mr. Sondheim's amazing contributions to music and the theater.
Stagedoor Manor announces the upcoming book 'Theater Geek' , the tome will tell the story of the performing arts camp's rich history and amazing track record for producing the next generation of stars. 'Theater Geek' is penned by a GQ Senior Editor and author of 'Pitch Perfect,' Mickey Rapkin. The book will be published by Free Press an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Inc. in June 2010.
So far at this evening's Emmy Awards, theater stars Jeremy Piven, Dianne Wiest, Laura Linney, Dame Eileen Atkins and Zeljko Ivanek are among the winners.
This morning, July 17th 2008 the nominations for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced by Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 13th at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Kate Burton, who will soon star in The Constant Wife for the Roundabout Theatre Company, will present the Regional Theatre Tony Award to Theatre de la Jeune Lune on June 5th
Aretha Franklin, Jesse L. Martin and Bernadette Peters will perform on the 2005 Tony Awards, while numbers from Sweeet Charity, Spamalot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and other nominated shows will also be presented
