Houston Symphony Celebrates 35th Anniversary of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK with Screening and Live Performance, 7/1

The Houston Symphony celebrates the 35th anniversary of the award-winning hit film Raiders of the Lost Ark with the screening of the film and live, simultaneous performance of John Williams' legendary score. Raiders of the Lost Ark - Film with Live Orchestra will be led by Principal POPS Conductor Designate Steven Reineke as a part of the Bank of America Summer Series at Jones Hall at 7:30 p.m. July 1-2.

California Symphony to Join Cirque de la Symphonie for Special Event, Today

WALNUT CREEK, CA (February 9, 2016) - The aerialists, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, strongmen and acrobats of Cirque de la Symphonie join the California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera in the Orchestra's annual fundraising special event, Cirque du Symphonie Presented by Steadauto.com, Today, June 18 at 7:30 pm at the historic and beautiful Scottish Rite Center in Oakland. For this performance, the Cirque production team and California Symphony have developed a unique program specifically for the Orchestra and the special characteristics of the Scottish Rite Center. The artists of Cirque de la Symphonie will execute their spectacular feats to music ranging from Bizet's Carmen to John Williams (music from Indiana Jones and Superman), Leonard Bernstein's Candide Overture, Arturo Marquez's Danzon No. 2, Debussy's Clair du lune, Offenbach's Can-Can No. 4, and Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 6, and the orchestra plays music from Aaron Copland (Rodeo from Hoe-Down), Richard Rodgers (Carousel Waltz), and Strauss (Emperor Waltz). All proceeds from the event, presented by steadauto.com, support the California Symphony and its music education programs, including Sound Minds, Music in the Schools, and the organization's respected Young American Composer-in-Residence Program.

New Hologram Vinyl Version of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Out Today

Today, Walt Disney Records releases a new hologram vinyl version of the original motion picture soundtrack for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. With score conducted and composed by five-time Academy Award-winning composer John Williams and liner notes by the film's director, J.J. Abrams, the double LP features a 16-page booklet on 180 gram vinyl and Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) for an optimal listening experience. This one-of-a-kind vinyl set, hand etched by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science, offers a 3D hologram experience featuring the Millennium Falcon on Disc 1/Side B and a TIE Fighter on Disc 2/Side B. For optimal viewing, use a direct light source or simply hold a mobile phone flashlight above the vinyl to view the holograms.

Creative Team Announced for WAR PAINT Starring Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole - Michael Korie, Scott Frankel and More; 6/28

Goodman Theatre announces Broadway stars John Dossett and Douglas Sills will join the cast of War Paint, a new musical starring two-time Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole as Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, respectively. Dossett will portray Tommy Lewis, Miss Arden's husband and chief marketing officer, and Sills will portray the ambitious Harry Fleming, Madame Rubinstein's clubby confidante and faithful ally.
