Utah Symphony's 'Great DVMF Adventure' Instagram Contest Kicks Off

The Utah Symphony has announced the return of a social media photo contest, "The Great DVMF Adventure," that was launched last summer to highlight the summer events in Park City, home of the orchestra's six-week outdoor Deer Valley Music Festival, which will open this year on Saturday, July 2nd. Last year the DVMF Adventure was such a success that the orchestra has decided to bring it back again this year as two separate contests. The first contest will run from July 1st - July 5th, with the first series of challenges revealed on the contest landing page on July 1, and the second (Encore) will run from July 15th - July 18th.

Each contest includes more than a dozen interactive photo challenges, encouraging participants to explore the many activities, attractions, experiences, and sights that Park City has to offer during the summer months. Once a challenge has been completed, participants will submit photographic "evidence" through Instagram. They should include the hashtag #DVMFadventure, tag the Utah Symphony (@utahsymphony), and include the challenge number to submit their entry.

"We recognize that people don't come to Park City just for the Deer Valley Music Festival, so the challenges are designed to highlight iconic Park City landmarks and activities, and support a broader summer experience. Whether the challenges get you out on a trail or on Main Street in search of a clue, you will make memories that embody the spirit of Park City," said Marketing Communications Manager Ginamarie Marsala. "The best part for us at Utah Symphony | Utah Opera is seeing the participants having a great time, in real time, as they submit their photos."

Participants can either compete individually or in squads of two to six adventure-seeking people, but all entries must be submitted through one Instagram account. Points will be tallied based on the amount of "hearts" photo submissions receive and the value of points of the completed challenges. Bonus points will also be awarded for submissions in which the hashtag #DMVF is visible within the frame of submitted photos.

The success of the Instagram challenge last year exceeded all expectations and served to highlight what makes Park City such an exceptional summer destination," said Brandon Hendricks, Director of Sales and Marketing at St. Regis, which is featured as a challenge location and also serves as the festival's VIP Experience sponsor.

The Grand Prize includes tickets to Matthew Morrison with the Utah Symphony (July 16), A Rodgers & Hammerstein Celebration & Sing-along (July 22), Steep Canyon Rangers with the Utah Symphony (July 30), and The Music of John Williams (August 6); a one-night stay at St. Regis Deer Valley; and a scenic chairlift ride for two at Deer Valley Resort. One runner-up will receive a pair of vouchers to the Deer Valley Music Festival and a one night stay at Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley.
