The concert features the world premiere of Oscar Bettison's LA Phil-commissioned Livre des Sauvages, the U.S. premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Five Star Signs, and John Cage's Concerto for Prepared Piano, performed by Gloria Cheng. Milarsky replaces John Adams, who had to withdraw as conductor due to scheduling demands.

In Rockin' the Boat, artistic director Brian Winnie takes ChoralSounds and the audience on a chronological voyage of discovery into some of the great music of stage and screen. Examining the vast differences between songs originally written for chorus and songs that were always intended as solo numbers, Rockin' the Boat includes many of the great choruses from stage and screen.
